Blue Oyster
Walking through the bar

Blue Oyster

This oyster bar plays with the contrasts of narrow and spacious. The old church basement didn’t give much room for a generous bar in the middle of central Stockholm, but instead of focusing on making the big spaces bigger, the narrow corridors between the rooms has become smaller. I imagined walking through a small hallway full of coats and jackets to then be able to breathe once you’ve made it through.

That initial sketch followed me through the entire process where I made several fabric tests to get the right texture and sound. To enhance the feeling of being at sea, all walls are covered with dark blue raincoat fabric and the floors are the classic circled rubber floor used in fishing boats.
