What About the Community in Detached Homes?

Your circle of  community starts in the home, with the most private rooms that only your family members would
enter being int the center. From there the circles expand - the rooms that your invited guests visit - the garden where you say hi to your
closest neighbours - the streets you walk to get to the subway - and so on. The longer the distance from your home, the more people in the circle. This means that the further away you do your grocery shopping from your home the less likely it is that you  bump in to your neighbours.

When a natural meeting point is removed from your neighbourhood one of these circles is broken or disappears. This is what has happened to many of the detached housing areas, or garden cities, around Stockholm.

I want to repair that broken circle of community by bringing back natural meeting points to the neighbourhood, but in a way that would function today. My proposal should also be able to change core functions over time to avoid breaking the repaired circle.

The very first activity that came to my mind in the design process was a meeting place for the sport federations in the area, for both the youth and adult scene. I also see this as a conference space for the local businesses, a party room or a place to host yoga classes.

The building on my second site will provide a coworking office for 16 people and will bring in monthly income to my projects which willultimately finance the builds. The open desk space is kept hidden from the street, but opens with windows to the garden in south.
